Good morning Gers and all who follow.
A bright misty start but back to a light frost and chilly. Yesterday I went with Mr Grumpy to the next town. I say he's grumpy but the diversion through the next village has been made worse by an old garage being demolished, so lots of trucks about. Don't know what the plans are, probably more houses.
Anyway, while our I popped into Lids for bread and managed to get one of their £1.50 fruit and veg boxes. I can't remember the last time I got one of those. This one had lots of potatoes, jackets and salad, 6 peppers, red and yellow, 3 courgettes, carrots and a leek. Oh, and 5 plums and 4 nectarines. No cuddly toy though (if like me you're old enough to remember). So today will be spent prepping the veg and trying to fit it in the overflowing freezer. No more shopping for us this month!
Tonight will be chicken wrapped in bacon and I'll probably do some roasties with it, ro use some of the spuds.
Have a good day all and hugs to anyone who needs them. Take care.12 -
Good morning
Thank you for the start @Gers
Quite a change in the weather this morning, feels chilly again after a few sunny days.
Gardener came at the weekend and moved several currant bushes to the top of the garden leaving more room for the raspberries. Lawn cut.
I've planted a few seeds, not going to grow much this year but I do love heritage sweet peas, they're so fragrant.
Take careIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.13 -
Morning Gers and all to follow,
No frost here but it feels a lot colder might have to blast the heating on for an hour while my people are here.
Three coming today and they have requested a walk which is nice and easy we will take lunch with us and eat it in the woods overlooking the pond which is a lovely spot, Robs rash was almost gone yesterday so the meds are doing their thing.
Dinner tonight will be lasagne with garlic bread and salad dd is off so will make the lasagne then we can cook it this evening.
Washing is up to date although dd may have some in her room, I need to hoover round this morning.
Have good days all and take care xx12 -
Morning all@remmie good game, good game :-)A bit chilly this morning. Do I put the washing on the line and will it dry? Why, when we've been away, is there an inch of dust everywhere? I'll do some dusting later. Don't know if it wil last but I've been waking up a bit later than usual, long may it last!Apart from that I hope everyone has a good day x12

Moring! Tiniest bit of sun but it's windy and it's definitely rained and will be raining again. No plans for the day so far, wil see what I fancy doing once I'm showered, dressed and breakfasted. Probably not much unless it's more getting rid of things. The fridge needs a sort out, I can't even see to the back and I'm sure some of the jars can do with a throw out or use up, so supper depends on what I find in there..I have not found the mouse yet...it's still here somewhere, the cats are still stalking..Nancy, yes, we're predicted some kind of arctic balst or something this week..fingers crossed it's not too bad for you. Ruby, enjoy the lasagna, I'm impressed it's so speedy! snoozer, yep, the trout pout is completely overrated
remmie, well done on the veg box! Yorkslass, hope Suzy has packed her bag for warmer climes...Shout out to the mia, and to the poodles...take care all.

Morning folks and thanks GERS. No frost here but definitely colder. The sun is currently shining but I don't think it's forecast to see the day out. The thermals are playing hokey cokey in and out of the drawer with the weather changes.
Lunch with DF today. We are back to our regular Tuesday meet up for now.. We have still to decide where we are eating though lunch choices are dwindling here. Same with the shops, we are losing another, it's Clintons going now. We will soon be like a ghost town,. with a shopless shopping centre. It's so sad to see.
SO your mention of sweet peas has reminded me of a stocking filler I got off DD. A sort of pretty little milk churn with a supply of compost and sweet pea seeds. I should be doing something with that soon. I had forgotten about it so thanks for the reminder.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad or lonely. Take care all, stay safe xx

The sun is shining without any warmth to it though it's sorting out the light frost. Minus temperatures this morning, yes, it was forecasted but still not welcome. I've had two boiled eggs and one coffee so am set up for the day.My trip north yesterday was swift and successful, I didn't linger or visit anyone. Later on I closed one current account, cancelled my contact lens contract and closed a low interest savings account.I've worn daily contacts for over 20 years now, that was until I retired completely and my need to wear them stopped. I don't have the same lifestyle any more so can't justify the £16 per month fee. I have a stockpile of unopened packets of lenses which just serve to make me feel guilty, now I've bitten the bullet. I've been with Optical Express since the early days when it was The Eye Clinic in Newcastle and not the multi-branched business it is now. It was based in a large building in the centre of Newcastle, all dark panelling and lovely staff. Anyway, it's done - another connection to my younger days severed.Today I'll be hanging about, I've got a meeting this evening which I could really do without (grump mode). I'll probably prune the rose bush at the front door, it's already sprouting buds and has some growth happening. There's some very old dead branches which need to be removed and the cross ones thinned out. Last year it all got out of hand and lopsided. It needs a new wood round to sit on, the current one is rotting away which is adding to the wonky look.Take care everyone, I hope that the sun shines on everyone. Hugs to our poorlies.11

Morning all. No frost here but I've turned up the thermostat a fraction and now it feels too hot!
Gers: I've worn contact lenses since my twenties but, since having my cataracts done in both eyes, have no need of them. I do need reading glasses though.
Today we are using DH's Father's Day present to have an Afternoon Tea locally. We've booked it for 1.30pm so see it as a late lunch but I doubt we'll have much for dinner as will be full up. It's somewhere we used to visit with the children but haven't been there for a very long time.
Yesterday we had a lovely time to celebrate an old friend's 80th birthday. There were 13 of us, all former Morris dancers and wives, and we walked for a couple of hours then went back to our host's house for drinks and then a lovely sit down lunch. I contributed one of the puddings and someone else brought along some old scrapbooks, which were fun to look at.
Hope everyone's day goes well and best wishes to the poodles.10 -
Good morning from a sunny(currently( but chilly mehefinland. The East wind is quite biting!
A poor nights sleep as something was making a bleep every 5 minutes or so from 4am Just far enough apart that I was just dropping off again and 'bleep'. Said a few bleeps myself. Eventually got fed up and got out of bed to track it down - it was a phone needing charging which I had missed. Upshot was this morning after the alarm had gone a silly o clock I dropped straight back off to the land of nod, woke in a panic and got filthy looks from the hungry neds when I got there. a "what time do you call this" look.
Showman seems to have recovered from his interesting period over the weekend, although the physio who was due on Monday has postponed his treatment as she had been reading up on the situation over the weekend and decided there was a risk. It's not going to hurt him to wait a bit longer, and it saves my pocket for a while.
Recycling day today, and our fortnightly green waste too, so there are bags everywhere. Be interesting to see what time they turn up as its the first green waste collection of the year for me .
Need a further onslaught on the garden, but that can wait until I have some empty bags again. I only paid for 8 to be collected - it's an annual charge here, but everyone is signing up quickly as the price will go up in April without a doubt.
Investigating whether it feasible to go on a water meter too as I just had the annual charge for that!! There' s bound to be some reason why they can't do it!
Hugs and spoons as always, and healing wishes to the poodles
Mehefin aka Derek
