Painting — Will this show through on the top coat?

It's most likely badly applied paint, compounded by further coats. It won't get any better with more layers. It needs to be sanded back or filled in.0

Okay. Well, frankly shouldn’t have bothered sanding the walls at all then, as seems it’s only exacerbated things.
It’s not wallpaper paste, no.0 -
If that was my room and I was planning on painting it, I'd probably bite the bullet and skim the lot. You could try spot filling with something like toupret or easifill to improve things but by the time you've messed around sanding etc, you could have had it skimmed.
It all depends how "perfect" you want the finished wall to look though0 -

Might cover some of it.
Paint always highlights imperfections, depends on the light as well, I find in our house when the lights are on the walls look fine but in the day when the light comes through the windows at certain angles you can see the imperfections very clearly, if you have standing lamps again they may also highlight it when on.In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
What roller achieved that paint texture? If I'm painting, I would expect to get a surface finish similar to your sanded areas. Are you planning on using some funky thick textured roller?Statement of Affairs (SOA) link: https://www.lemonfool.co.uk/financecalculators/soa.phpFor free, non-judgemental debt advice, try: Stepchange or National Debtline. Lorian said:Difficult from the photos but it doesn't look like just rolled orange peel effect to me. Are you sure it's not paint over previously not properly cleaned wallpaper paste? Most likely if it was paste that hadn't been cleaned, the paint would start to crack. It looks like the straight lines might be sand paper that has scraped the wall as it is too much grit/ roughness.I had to "repair" an orange peel effect/ deep brush marks/ deep roller marks created by a "PROFESSIONAL" painter, I used an electric sander to level the walls. Needless to say, that painter did not get fully paid, I think he got off lightly TBH. The OP doesn't really want to hear people's suggestions as far as I am reading. Sometimes people do not want to hear/ accept the truth.0

I totally do hear what has been said. Was asking out of curiosity.
Ended up doing some work to them, but nothing OTT. Frankly, didn’t want to spend the time required to get them perfect. Wanted to get them painted and have them done.
Some marks did show, but I’m more than happy to live with it. It’s a wall, after all. Bigger things in life.2
