    Was the aga assembled correctly when the buyer got it home?
    I'd assume if I bought one that it required an element of skill to reconstruct and some of the elements could be damaged if not handled correctly so if buyer did build it themselves, unless they can prove they are competent to do this (think they also disassembled it as well?), they may wellhave caused the damage.
    My knowledge of oil agas is limited but my mum had 2 gas ones for 35+ years and I know looking at the flame there are fiddly components that could easily be damaged (via assembly / disassembly).
    I'd ignore and only respond if they send court papers.
