Best easy access acct WITHOUT an app?

Only a few savings accounts are 'app only' .
Some savings accounts offer an app but you do not have to sue it, and you can just open an account on line/laptop.
Many savings accounts can only be opened on line, and have no app and no branches.0 -
If the main reason is keep it under £85k, he does not need constant acessing it.
You can open new online savings account with good rate, move a sum over and don't touch it.
Then, his day to day spending is with his current bank.
So, when the overall savings are reduced under £85k, then you can visit him and get online together and help him move the money back to his current bank.
By the way, any coventry BS around you? Although their 5 Access Saver only do 4%, but they do allow branch access if that is absolutely a must.

Fyi: Yorkshire building society have an agency/agent in Lichfield, located in a firm of solicitors. If you find the products suitable, you could contact the agency to see if they can help your dad open an account.0

My Mum is technophobe, not keen on online access etc.
We have been telling her for years that she needs online access, just in case there is an issue.
Reading a paper statement once a month 6-8 weeks after a problem has occurred is not good.
After finding an unknown charge on her bank account & two on her credit card resolved her trepidation.
We use an iPad I got her for Christmas, I talk her through step by step, or in person while she cooks me Sunday lunch. Great deal for me.
Mum was loosing thousands of pounds in interest as, I only use my bank for saving at 0.5% aghhhhhhh.
Soon had her savings in NS&I at 6% for a year.
Her false teeth almost fell out when she realised the rate was 12 times better.
Now Mum has isa’s, reg savers and fixed rates all over.
She is 80.
Good luck with your quest.

I'd also suggest that the risk of having more than £85k in the Nationwide is so tiny it's really not something to worry about.

Having used various bank and building society savings accounts over the years, in my opinion the easiest and most straightforward to use is Marcus. You can open the account online very simply and their interest rate is good (although not the best).1

Principality are web only and having started out with a regular saver I find I now have four accounts with them, as they have had some nice loyalty offers. They have a couple of branches over the border in England.
But the main reason for suggesting them is that when I had an issue (my mistake with some details I provided) this was resolved by a real human being based in a branch, over a phone call and email. It was like going back in time!Fashion on the Ration
