DHL - complaint

Sold an item on Ebay and despatched using DHL and paying for insurance as the item was c £150. It arrived completely damaged and wrecked. Had to make refund to buyer. Tried correspondence and claiming via DHL under the terms of the insurance . I got absolutely nowhere.  Is there any time limit on these claims if I use Small Claims - is it worth it or should I just write off. Grateful for any advice from anyone with experience of DHL

What reason was given for refusing your claim, and did you buy direct from DHL or go through a third party site?

Can you describe the damage - whether the outer box was damaged or just the contents and how it was packed.  A lot of items are not eligible for insurance claims, so a claim will be refused if it is in their list.  Some carriers have very long lists of items excluded from their insurance.

Purchased direct from DHL via my account. No response after submission of forms and all proof including photos

It was an item of kitchen equipment made of metal - no glass involved. Very tightly and well packed - outer packaging was fine. I think it was dropped. Buyer took photos and I submitted these to DHL
