DHL - complaint

Sold an item on Ebay and despatched using DHL and paying for insurance as the item was c £150. It arrived completely damaged and wrecked. Had to make refund to buyer. Tried correspondence and claiming via DHL under the terms of the insurance . I got absolutely nowhere. Is there any time limit on these claims if I use Small Claims - is it worth it or should I just write off. Grateful for any advice from anyone with experience of DHL

Can you describe the damage - whether the outer box was damaged or just the contents and how it was packed. A lot of items are not eligible for insurance claims, so a claim will be refused if it is in their list. Some carriers have very long lists of items excluded from their insurance.0
