Served Form 6a

Hi,
My landlord has served me with a section 6a asking me to vacate the property by end of May.
If I find another property quickly, can I serve my one month notice and terminate before that date?
Thanks in advance, finding this all very stressful and not sure what to do.

Yes, per the usual terms of your periodic tenancy - do read it. It may need to be in line with a tenancy period rather than part way through the month.1

I think if you ask your LL they will be very happy to let you go on a shorter notice. Most LL when they serve notice want the tenant out ASAP - ask2

I'm out of the fixed term, just on a rolling one month agreement now0

- might be 1 calendar "month" from date you serve notice
- might (more likely) be 1 rental period, so more than 1 month if not served on the exact start date of the original tenancy.1 -
Generally if the landlord wants you out they will go along with whatever you propose as long as it involves you leaving. just ask.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0
