Morning all! No sun today, it's raining, which is good, it can wet the hay on two new beds at the allotment for me...Managed to get a bamboo splinter in my hand yesterday but it's already been squeezed out in it's own bed of pus [tmi] which means my hand is now hurting more...a pain becuae I was going to start burning the chopping board for a friends birthday [ she wanted daffodils on it, so I've drawn it out already]. We're off to the cinema tonight to see Mickey 17, looks funny, and we have a chicken pasta dish I made yesterday for either before or after. I think one of the cats brought a mouse in because they've been trying to squeeze under the cupboards in the kitchen last night and this morning which is another pita because now I have to rescue it somehow without them seeing.Allie, congratulations on your new Thistle, lovely name..Gers, glad you had a fab weekend! TA, if it makes you feel better then you might as well carry on
remmie, I think everyone has one person in their life who is just a grumpy so and so...to be honest, the one in mine doesn't even see that they're doing it all the time, but it's very wearing...snoozer, at least you get to see what you'd look like if you did have fillers
Ruby, hope Rob has improved and your money wings its way back to you soon. Sue, good to hear you've improved too. Rosy, one of my favourite jobs, you can really see a difference after it.. Scarlet, youtube is very helpful for things like that. Nancy, it's definitely a churchy thing, it's a thing in Italy for sure where my mother was from...And the wagon at the market sells fried fish and squid, octopus, prawns etc on a Friday every week. Mehefin, hope showman's better today..Take care all, enjoy your day whatever you do..

Morning everyone
Back to chilly and windy this morning. Yesterday was a beautiful day, I sat and ate my lunch outside and then did a bit tidying, to fill the black bin up before it is emptied tomorrow.
Thanks for all the good wishes for dad, he really enjoyed his birthday tea, as did little one and little great nephew. Little one loved us all being together and sang Happy Birthday several times quite loudly! She ate a little and was very pleased with all the praise for her cupcakes. She was shattered after just an hour so DD took her home to get sorted for bed, it's sad no 6 year old should feel ill all the time. She's going to school for an hour this morning and then they have an emergency appointment at Newcastle with both her consultant and dietician.
I watched the last two episodes of Call the Midwife last night and enjoyed them.
Right I'd best get on as I've got to go to work in an hour. Hope everyone has a good day x11 -
Morning all. Here we are at the beginning of a new week, I wonder what it will bring? It's overcast and a bit misty this morning but should brighten up later, light showers are possible mid-afternoon and it's still reasonably mild with highs of 11C.
I got some of the planters emptied yesterday but there's still a couple more to go and I'm afraid I don't have the energy, enthusiasm or patience to finish them today so they'll have to wait. Suzy Snail (I've given it a name and think it's a she as they're the ones that leave the trails) didn't put in an appearance last night but I'll leave the pellets down for a few days - just in case!
I've nothing exciting planned for today, just the usual housework stuff, but I do want to look at some paint colours for the living room as it's long overdue a refresh. I can do most of it myself but will need help with the ceiling - maybe I can enlist DS, although I know it's not really on his radar! Tea tonight is a salad of some description, either ham or tinned salmon and I'll decide nearer the time which I fancy.
@weenancy - Your family history was interesting to read and set me to wondering how many people change their religion over their lives.
@AA - Welcome to Thistle and happy trips to come, glad you enjoyed your few days away.
@Scarlet - I knit, sew and do cross stitch but crochet doesn't float my boat, probably because I'm not very good at it.
@Suffolksue - So sorry to hear you're still not up to par. Apparently there's a lot of it going around, not much comfort to you I know, so take it easy.
@Gers - Sounds like you had a lovely Sunday. I hope your M&S collection is all in order.
@snoozer - That trout pout sounds yukky, do you think it might be an allergy?
@-taff - Good luck with the mouse hunt.
Have a good week, special hugs for the Poodles, take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.13 -

Just read Wee Nancy's post which I missed last night. What a fascinating family history. X

Yorkslass, I'm fairly sure it's not an allergy. Before I thought it perhaps was but yesterday I hadn't eaten anything to cause it, nor had I put any creams on my face. Taff, I'm not a fan of the pouty look so I shall be glad when it goes.9

We went almost 6 months here without any rain and guess what - Mother Nature plans to make up for it. We are supposed to have rain, heavy much of the time, with thunderstorms possible - for at least the next eight days! And the temperatures are supposed to drop. I might get to wear my new sweaters after all. We are finally getting winter, a bit late. Not sure where it plans to rain from here, but you may be looking at rain coming still for the next couple of weeks. Hope you all stay dry. At least it is good weather for sorting things inside.6
