My wife has a 2021 Mini Cooper S and me and Her are Insured on it with me as Named Driver.
There is 3000 miles of Business use as she's a Community Nurse and uses car for work. 5000 miles SDP
too. We have come to renewal time and want to add our 23 year old Son on too.
Held Licence for 5 years, couple of years NCD, no Points, 1 claim for a write off.
Now for the problem. I've been using all the Comparison sites and 1 Company keeps coming up lowest price.
Aviva Zero. But when I click through to their site and try to pay, a message appears that they cannot offer cover?
I thought it was just them but another Company, Quote me Happy has just done the exact same thing through
Top Cashback? I went to pay, but then got the same message, not able to proceed with cover?
What's going on?

Quote Me Happy and Aviva Zero are both Aviva companies, its likely they use a common interface with the aggregators and hence if its making an error with one its likely to make an error with all.

Easiest to just move on to a non-Aviva brand.
  • GA just did the same, who's not Aviva then?

General Accident is another Aviva brand name... they have a lot because they grew through acquisitions plus their anti-aggregator stance meant they had to create a sub brand to go onto the aggregators.

There are hundreds of brands that play on the aggregators, some are insurers, some brokers. Aviva have about 6 brands I know of that have at times been on aggregators (and a few more that dont) but they're not the only ones as Directline Group has DL, Churchill, Privilege, Darwin plus a few more, Admiral has its own, Elephant and Bell, eSure has Shielas Wheels and First Alternative.

Customers can be fickle so insurers need different brands... Churchill sells very few policies in Scotland despite arguably they are a better fit for the brand position.
  • AXA next cheapest, I'll try them.
  • Now got cover with AXA, don't use Aviva is my tip.

You'll find the same with most multi brand insurers, if there is a technical problem impacting one brand it will impact all brands because they all run off the same systems. It's not cost effective to have a discrete system with its seperate licensing etc for each of you 10 brands selling mass market consumer motor insurance.

What works for one person doesn't necessarily work for the next else we'd likely only have one insurer.
