Scottish Power Issues no compassion

My mother used scottish power until her death over a year ago  

I took it bad & still.struggle 

Scottish Power 

I contacted Scottish Power to advise of her death and th8snis where the problems start ! 

After providing both phone email ecr I start to get bombarded for months with emails & txts to my provided detail in her name , even the letters were in her name 

Two complaints later I was told they couldnt stop this and would add a new account & close last . 

All of a sudden am a Mrs Bob Hunter ( fake nane ) , it gives me confidence on there skills as a company & correct data 

Each time more intrested in paying a bill that can't be confirmed is correct 

Last call to SP I was told the last reading was taking in March , strange I never let them in & mother was in hospital !! 

Further more to th3 above they have stated that have supplied and been paid for gas at sane address since early 2007 when I can see the payments to OVO ? 

Add giving both address postcode & mothers account number they were unable to process or even find the account but still send multiple txts and emails at all times of night 

Today I've just had an alert for bad credit score due to unpaid bill to SP even though still in dispute what is actually owed 

Where do I go from here ? 

O know all the troubles my mother had with them and am more than haply to pay what is due but they can't prove or explain there figures .

    for starters sorry to hear of your loss
    the bill shouldnt be in your name, ive just been through what you have went through and octopus put the final bill into the name of the estate of my parent (which was in credit) and refunded straight away, so they need to remove the bad markers from your credit file

    i'm sure there will be plenty of replies on here on what to do next, may need to start to dig out old bills etc

    Did you follow this process and complete the form and email that in and read the information on the process.

    If so, if the process is failing you, then raise a complaint with Scottish Power.

    I’ve recently left them, and they even managed to mess up the final billing. I’ve just been awarded £125 by the Ombudsman. 
    No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

    OK I've spoken to Scottish power & a lovely call handler in Capetown this evening who has raised another complaint , let's see where this goes ? 

    The fact they are stating that a meter read took place when it didn't in my eyes is fraud. 

    I also spoke to a lovely adviser called Sam at Experian today , honestly am so glad I actually pay for there service .

    It looks as though the default should nit have been placed on my account at this early stage , something I will chase SP to remove 

    Another letter today for me as " Mrs " as I stated they can't get my name or sex right what else is wrong here ? 

    OVO confirm rhat they did supply the power & SP still stating that they have done since 2007 , so looks as though my mother was paying both . 

    This is another matter I will follow up 

    Fingers crossed we finally resolve this mess

    it shouldnt be on your credit file at all, its not your debt

    Then I would get the date the agreement to supply started and put a complaint in with the other provider. Be clear it is a complaint. Be clear in your dates, costs etc (probably worth sticking all bills and charges into a spreadsheet for ease to be copied into your complaint or attached. Be clear on how much in payments incorrectly taken you are requesting back.

    Don't sit on this keep momentum up. 

    You don't say what you have advised SP or OVO of the actual meter readings. How far out are they compared to what SP have tried billing. And are OVO and SP both citing the same usage

    Is this a property you still have access to or was it a private rental. If you still have access then subsequent readings will have stabilisers any incorrectly billed readings.

    If private rental or social housing then you'd have needed to take a reading at the end of the tenacy and the housing provider would take one at the beginning of the void period to ensure they don't pay tenant utility costs.

    With SP I would also complain, again be clear, that they have put a utility account into your name incorrectly and that this shouldnt have happened - request the account details have executor of on them as it is not a personal debt it is that for the estate.
