We’re removing our debit card foreign currency fees
On 14 April 2025, we’re removing our debit card fees for your account
when you:
• Make a payment in a foreign currency
• Take out money in foreign currency or pound sterling at a cash machine,
or over the counter, outside the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man
• Take out money in a foreign currency at a cash machine in the UK,
Channel Islands or Isle of Man.
If you’re abroad, and choose to pay for something in pound sterling, the
provider of the currency conversion may still charge you. Also, if you’ve
added Travel Smart to your account, you’ll no longer need it and we’ll
remove it on 14 April 2025.
We’re increasing the Club Lloyds monthly fee from
£3 to £5 - but it can still be waived
The fee will change from 2 June 2025 and apply the following month. This is
waived each month that you pay in £2,000 or more.

That would be amazing, do you think there's a chance they might do that?

Too late for me. I’ll be going abroad this year for the first time in decades, and will need a fee-free card, so I opened a second current account with another provider only last week. At least it’ll be a bit of insurance against system outages - and I’ll have access to another regular saver.

ETA: I’ve not yet had notification of this change from Lloyds.

They do offer it on at least one of their credit cards, as I recently got one. The offer is for 60 months apparently.

It's the Platinum Mastercard that I have.

That's the £15 per month Word Elite one though isn't it?

I have the regular Platinum Mastercard Credit Card and don't think I get that benefit

A Lloyds email alerting me to an online message about this was received at precisely 11:00 today.

Donkeys years ago their Duo Avios cards (Amex + MC) didn't charge extra for non GBP transactions. They also offered a fairly generous 2 avios per £1 spend (cards were free). It was quite rare to see an Amex card in UK which had a 0% forex charge, the only other one i knew was MBNA Everyday Amex. But once Lloyds stopped offering Amex, then they removed the 0% forex charge on their MC Avios.

    RIP Duo
