Morning all. Today is set to be sunny with a gentle breeze and highs of 15 deg. I'm loving being able to go out without being muffled up as well as having the windows open for fresh air but sadly the cooler weather will be back tomorrow. Ah well, it was good while it lasted!
I didn't get very far with emptying the planters yesterday so I'll crack on with that today. I'd forgotten DS told me he had an eye test recently and needs glasses so was surprised to see him wearing them when he visited. Two pairs, one for reading and another for driving - yes, you've got to that age, son!
Tonight I'll be watching the new series of Ten Pound Poms that's in the Call the Midwife slot. It seems a long time since series one so I hope I can remember who's who, how it ended etc. I dare say there'll be a brief recap at the beginning. There's lots of corned beef hash left from the other day so I'll have some of that for dinner tonight and will freeze the rest - I think I can just about shoehorn it into the freezer!
@Gers - Enjoy today's belated birthday lunch.
@mehefin - Loving the horse tales!
@dp1 - Happy birthday wishes for your Dad.
@Suffolksue - I hope you're feeling a little better today.
Right, those planters won't do themselves so I'll get a move on with it before I get sidetracked by anything else. Enjoy the rest of the weekend whatever you have planned and take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.12 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. Enjoy your lunch.
Im a latecomer this morning but I decided to make an early start getting the front to look a bit more presentable. I took the grabber out for picking up all the bits of paper etc that had blown in over the winter and lodged under the hedge. Then removed the pots, complete with the dead contents, from the top step and threw bleach over them to get rid of the green left behind! The steps then got a good sweep but there the job stopped. The driveway can wait for another time. My ailing legs only allow for tackling bits at a time. If we get the promised 16 deg I might make a start sweeping the back after lunch. Once the weather is more settled I think I will contact the young chap who cleaned all the pvc etc last summer. His leaflet said he does jet washing and it badly needs it both back and front.. It's another job that has got beyond me nowadays. Old age has a lot to answer for!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad or lonely. Poor you SUE that sounds a bit nasty, I hope you soon get over it. Happy Birthday to Mr Dp1 the elder. Take care all, stay safe xx

Morning all
Another bright and sunny day here one wash load on the line and another just finishing it’s so nice to be able to hang things out.
I spent a couple of hours in the garden yesterday tidying the pots and sweeping I also planted some bulbs and primroses so it’s looking a bit better, today OH is going to help remove everything from the patio and we will jet wash ( I love jet washing 😃) then put everything back it should be nice and tidy when the new table and pergola arrive, we will get a new bbq before the summer too as the old one is just a bit too small for us.
Im going to put a chicken casserole in the sc this morning so tonight we only have to do some rice to go with it.
Dogs to be walked later and then an evening of tv, has call the midwife finished ? I love that programme.
DP1 Happy Birthday to your dad xx
Sue I hope you feel better soon xx
Have good days all and take care xx11 -
@TA - you're right, old age does have a lot to answer for. I can still do most of the things I used to do but have to pace myself nowadays - big jobs no longer get done in one day, more like bite-sized intervals when energy and the body allows!
@Ruby - Yes, CTMW finished last Sunday. You can get it on iplayer if you missed it.
That dratted snail invader is back! Heaven knows where it's hiding, given all the deep cleaning I've been doing. I'm afraid I'm going down the last resort route and sprinkling some pellets around where I think it might be - no pets or children around - and will hoover them up (the pellets) after a day or so. I never thought I'd see the day when I'd be using them inside the house.Be kind to others and to yourself too.7 -
Hope you feel better soon, Suffolksue. Glad Showman seems to be feeling better Mehefin.
Sounds like you are having a beautiful Spring day for most people. We are too - 22C for a high here. But they are predicting two more rain storms coming through here this week. We aren't used to it. Was in the supermarket a couple of days ago and they were trying to find where the rack of umbrellas had gone off to - still hadn't found it when I left thirty minutes later! Was there getting our fish for Friday dinner. When I talked to my sister later she laughed at me and the Friday dinner for Lent - she is the one who is now Catholic. Sort of a family tradition for me - my best friend growing up was Catholic and so my mother made fish for Fridays as she was usually there eating with us. 67 years later and I am still having fish on Fridays for Lent. We were Baptist or Disciples of Christ (First Christian) (attended both churches each week) until I was 12 and now I am Mormon now but still help out at the Methodist church where we ended up when we moved here. My best friend when we moved here was Jewish. I sort of mix things up. Ancestors did too - one was hung for being a Quaker (she was last person hung for it in America), several were the first ministers (different religions) in several states as the country grew, uncle was minister in different church than great-grandfather.
Love hearing about what everyone is up to.
