Motor Insurance - Declare penalty points

Hi all,

My insurance is due for renewal next month so I've had a search but.....

In March 2020 or 2021 I received and SP30. I've looked on the DVLA site as to how many points I have and currently it's a clean licence. If I declare nothing, as per the DVLA site, but then am found to be wrong what would happen?

Your insurance would be cancelled and would have to be declared probably forever.

What does the question ask on the insurers site, if it says up to 5 years ago you must answer truthfully

If I received an SP30 in Mar 2020 and my insurance is due next month then I have answered truthfully, however, if I received them in 2021 they would have to be declared but there doesn't seem to be a way to find out the correct answer.

Look into your bank statement as to when you paid the fine or the course.

Easy to find as you know the month

If you've had insurance since you got the points you would have had to declare them, so look back through your previous insurance documents.

Your renewal letter should mention the points you declared last year under the "please check these details are correct" part, assuming they're still current.
