Growing horseradish in a pot

I'm keen on making fire cider so have been looking for horseradish. I finally found some organic roots in a veg shop. I think I can plant some in a bigish pot with decent compost but since I failed miserably to grow on ginger root I'd be grateful for any tips

Decent compost may be counterproductive. They seem to grow in poor soil ok1

You will need a very deep pot. Think doubly as deep as a supermarket flower bucket, the round kind. I've had some in a similar size to that for the past couple of years and it does grow leaves every year but the roots are not a great size...I'll be uneashing them this year with a plan to contain by digging out...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi1

Very funny! I do have some jerusalem artichokes in a bed at the allotment, but I would really like some real artichokes

Ha! I was just thinking about planting them out instead and then remembering how the Jerusalem artichokes are already a menace and do I want to add another!'...it is only kindness that makes sense anymore ' Naomi Shihab Nye0

To be MSE you could get 2 flower buckets from the supermarket and cut the bottom off one then stack them.Easier to water from the middle
Be prepared for it to blow your head off if it's home grown.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on

Interesting! Not sure I can picture it, I'll have to look at some flower buckets and work it out.twopenny said:To be MSE you could get 2 flower buckets from the supermarket and cut the bottom off one then stack them.Easier to water from the middle

I give myself the head-cringe with weak sop bought sauce so I will have to be careful.
But, fire cider! It's supposed to be good for you'...it is only kindness that makes sense anymore ' Naomi Shihab Nye0 -
Fire Cider probably is good for you.I should clear all 'passages' at both ends. You'd pay a fortune for that in a spa.
