Purchased the Nokia 4G this week, just to use for text messages and phone calls.

Generally getting on OK with it. But today, just noticed.

Sending new messages seems to be no problem.

But when I reply to my sister who has a Smart Phone..... I get the option SMS or MMS.

I prefer not to make that choice. I want only SMS to be available. (To avoid accidental use of MMS)

Is there a way I can disable the MMS?

Instruction Book is hopeless and I cannot find it on-line either.

There is a Message Settings...

- I click on MMS
- It then shows me O2-Pay as you go.
- I click on that and then go into the "three line" menu on the left of screen
- then I see....

delete (I cannot... there has to be one.)
edit has things I do not understand... eg access point is shown as payasyougoO2.uk

advanced settings shows.... DNS address 0.0.0.0

I do have Data Roaming set to  OFF

And Data Service set to OFF

Are they both enough to stop any MMS sending?

Thanks anyone that can help.

(I don't understand much, so please keep very basic for me!)

PS Just to add.  With Data Service switched ON, it connects to the 4G network. With it switched OFF, it doesn't.

Steps to disable sending text messages as MMS on a Nokia 105 4G:

    1. Go to the Menu on your Nokia 105 4G.
    2. Select "Messages".
    3. Select "Message settings".
    4. Select "Multimedia message".
    5. Locate the setting for "Creation mode" and change it from "Free" to "Restricted".
    6. This will prevent your text messages from being sent as MMS (multimedia messages) by default.

The phone may automatically convert longer messages to MMS. In that case, try to keep your messages under the character limit for SMS (usually 160 characters) to avoid this issue.

    Good afternoon, glennevis

    Many thanks for replying.

I am getting stuck at point 4 .

    a  I select MMS

b   I see SIM 1 MMS access point O2 Pay as you go

c   I select that and I then have options   "New access point", "Delete",  "Edit"  or "Reset"

    Been through them.

Nowhere, can I see a setting for "Creation Mode"

    EDIT

I have noticed this, however.     I did a test as if I was replying to my sister on MMS and it actually looks completely different on the screen, compared to when I draft an SMS message.

(When I draft new messages or reply to someone, by actively selecting SMS  (as opposed to MMS) then I clearly get the screen that shows I have only160 characters.

So that has made me feel a bit more comfortable.... that I would actually know if I was texting on the wrong one.

    Update on this.

O2 have just told me that they can disable MMS from their end on my number.

I will update you with whether this works. (It takes about 24 hours, they said.)
