Shared ownership and DLA

Options
I understand that for a shared ownership house you can’t earn over £80,000 outside of London. This would obviously include wages, UC and child benefit. I was just wondering if this would include my children’s DLA payments - these are obviously for my children who are under 18 and not contributing to the household? I have a letter stating it’s my children’s money and not mine

The income limit for shared ownership outside London is a ‘household’ income of £80,000, however, as far as I’m aware, certain benefits such as Universal Credit and DLA are not included in the ‘household income’ calculation.

Hi thank you this is interesting - do you have any links to pages that explain this in more detail at all please?

have a look at the guidance for the Homes England calculator which describes what you put in the income boxes
    SO_initial_eligibility_and_sustainability_calculator_guidance_note_for_CFG_-_March_2020.pdf

"This primarily relates to any benefits or other forms of income that applicants receive (entered in to cells N17 – N22). Although the introduction of Universal Credit means that some applicants receive a lump sum payment, it is still broken down to ensure recipients know what they are receiving, and for them to ensure that they are entitled to the benefits being received. The calculator therefore still requests information on benefits separately as follows:
    - Working tax credits (N17)
    – Disability allowance (N20)
    – Guaranteed maintenance income (N21)
    – Other income source (N22) is there to allow applicants to include any other payments they receive and may want to include

The calculator also allows for the input of figures for child tax credit and child benefit. However, these are not considered accepted forms of payment by Homes England"

wouldn't it be more reassuring to contact the official bodies and directly ask them?
