Seeking Urgent Guidance – Disabled War Pensioner Facing Housing Uncertainty Due to Redevelopment

Hello everyone,
I’m reaching out for guidance regarding my father, a 100% War Pensioner Quadriplegic, who has lived in his home under a secure tenancy agreement since 1986. His home is part of a redevelopment scheme approved by the council despite serious concerns raised by councillors about the developer’s ability to deliver.
The developer, Anchor, has been downgraded by the Regulator of Social Housing and was recently found to have serious statutory breaches, including failures in fire and electrical safety compliance, damp and mould oversight, and general neglect. Despite this, the redevelopment has been pushed through, putting severely disabled and vulnerable residents at risk.
We have major concerns about how this process is being handled, particularly regarding legal protections, financial implications, and housing rights for those affected. My father, given his complex needs, cannot simply be moved without careful consideration, yet there has been no transparent communication about legal protections, relocation rights, or compensation for the upheaval this will cause.
We are exploring legal options, housing rights, and veteran support avenues, but I would really appreciate any advice from those with experience in similar situations—particularly in housing law, disability rights, or successful negotiations in similar cases.
Any insights or recommendations would be incredibly valuable.
Thank you,

Any local newspapers? That should be your first port of call and then send the newspaper story to your MP.And don't move home either and that will provide fuel again for the newspaper.I assume he is a council tenant and not private (compulsory purchase order)? You sound like you are getting into the weeds too of the impending problem. I assume the most important thing is appropriate housing (which may be more suited to your parent)? I's reduce some of your concerns to just a few points (communication and rehousing) and if there is further examination leave it to the professionals.Would your father be eligible for Legal Aid?0

As a fellow War Pensioner, I would say get in touch with SSAFA Forcesline. They do not charge anything for their services for both serving and veterans and do take on casework. They are incredibly helpful with all housing issues for disabled veterans.3
