Beware Price quoted for EDF Electricity in the Cheap Energy Club
I have just transferred my energy supply to EDF as the Cheap Energy Club stated I would save money. Unfortunately price per unit quoted on the Cheap Energy club information is 23p kWH and the actual price at transfer is 29p per kWH. Just checked and it still shown as 23p on the Cheap energy Club. This has increased my monthly direct debit by £24 per month from the original quote provided.

Which tariff is this?I'm not aware of a current single-rate EDF electricity tariff anywhere in GB that charges as much as 29p/kWh. If there is one, it would be good to know.N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Ripple Kirk Hill member.

Hi @elecgas - I've asked colleagues in MSE's utilities team about this, and they would like to know which tariff you were signing up for and which region you live in, so they can take a closer look. (You can send this info by private message if you prefer.)

Isn't 29p per kWh the price for day rate, last time the single rate was that was Jan 2024?0

I transferred my account not really knowing what tariff I was moving on to. I live in Essex and the tariff given is the Simply Fixed Jun26v3. Except it is not simple as I believed this tariff had no exit charge and now I find it has a £75 charge. I have been on another comparison site which shows a another supplier £200 cheaper or roughly the same price as the one advertised on MSE that I signed up for. I am now trying to move my account. Trust MSE or EDF if you wish but you now know my experience.0

May I ask what is your consumption and the day/night split if it applies.
£200 is a big saving - make sure your numbers are right. I'm on a SVT with 2900 kWh and I can't find one with that savingNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

No exit fee if sign up for under/less than 2 year fix direct or via Topcashback
Current version Simply Fixed Direct Jun26v6 tariff looks dearer than v5
If you are within 14 day cooling off period can cancel, compare unit rates X your yearly usage and SC x 365 rather than go by stated savings.1 -
My EDF Essentials 1Yr Apr25 is coming to an end, but Energy Club is wrong when they say I won't pay more for my electricity so Energy Club certainly hasn't factored in the EDF increase as detailed in their email to me today :
