Poorly boiler

Options
I have a Worcester Bush Green star 25 SI condenser boiler which was put in in 2009.

I had it serviced, and the plumber commented on how well it was lasting, and that when things start to go wrong, it may not be economic to repair.

Sod’s law being what it is, two days later I have lost heating and hot water.
Still waiting for the plumber to come back out, but looking at the troubleshooting in the manual the blue light flashing slowly on  and the lockout button flashing red could be any of these.
I know it’s guesswork, but does anyone want to hazard a guess as to how likely I am to be in uneconomic repair/new boiler territory?

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Can you reset it? Check the manual for how to reset it.

When I try to reset it, it doesn’t work. Just carries on flashing.

My Worcester Boiler is 32 years old and apart from being noisy because the bearings have worn (and they do not make them anymore) it keeps on going. Have you checked the pressure?
Every year when it is serviced I get the hard sell about how inefficient it is and how much I could save with a new boiler. Then I show them how much gas I use a year and ask them to explain their figures - they go very quiet because it is rubbish.

When this boiler finally packs in for good I will be lucky to get a new one that would last for 5 years.

The pressure is fine. This is a local independent plumber that I trust not to sell me something unnecessarily.

Looking at that list it could be anything from electrodes needing a clean (cheap) to a new control module (expensive) with lots in between. I don't see why it can't be repaired though, my Glowworm is a lot older than that and parts are still available.

Wonder if the engineer forgot to refit the baffles inside the main heat exchanger when he did a service....
If the control board does need replacing, a refurbished one should be around £50. A new one (if available) somewhere between £120 and £170 depending on who supplies it. Not hugely expensive compared to the cost of a new boiler.

Although it might be a coincidence, it could be related to the service and might be an easy fix. Fingers crossed.

Many new boilers come with a 10 year warranty, some longer.
