Firstly, I got my statutory report and there are 7 ' D' markings on the file, but they didnt send a key so I can only assume this means 'default'. The period it is for is Oct 23 - May 24 and Oct 23 is when BG changed to a new system. I know this because the same period on my Equifax report says 'no info' for the same 7 months, Transunion was UC, which means no information and my online BG payments only go back to Oct 23 and then I cant go back anymore. All my payments are on time.

Can anyone confirm that D does mean default and how to get them corrected. I feel they should also read 'no info', rather than incorrectly stating defaults.

I am in a similar position and have recently submitted a complaint with British Gas.  There has been a late payment marker on my credit file since January 2022; I have tried a few times to get British Gas to remove it, as I have never missed a payment, I pay by direct debit monthly.  Last year the late payment marker came off my Experian credit file (after a very longwinded webchat with someone at BG).  But the late payment marker still remains on my Equifax credit report despite promises from BG that this is an error and they will fix it.  I have sent BG proof of the late payment marker and have an open complaint with them.  You will need to contact BG directly as they will check if you have any defaults on your account, and if not, will inform the relevant credit reference agencies.

    Good luck!

On Experian a D usually means 'dormant' as opposed to default.

If it was a default it would be showing as status '8' with a clear default date and default balance.

If this account is now showing as settled with historic 'D' markers this is not viewed in any negative way by lenders and you do not need to take any action.

Thank you - they eventually emailed me back to say this. The statutory report is made as confusing as possible I think to get people to pay as they do not provide a key with it so you cant work out what they are. D you would assume is default and I couldn't find anything online to correct me.
