You would have been better off starting your own thread rather than adding to an old one, especially as your issue isn't the same - unless you are saying the garage refunded you in cash rather than a bank transfer?

Why don't you have any paperwork for this though? That would seem very unusual for such a large transaction.

It is normal for administrative staff to deal with day to day correspondence rather than a solicitor. Your file may not have even been passed to a solicitor yet if you haven't completed the source of funds checks.
