Hi hope someone can as ive been on phone to barclays and still feel sick with worry
For months now we have been every so often receiving letters from barclays with someone else lses name on....its a long non english name so can not remember it fully.
We ignored and ripped up as they seemed like scam letters. Today we got a other and envelope looked different so opened it...after i ripped in half...and its from barclays collections saying by 1st april over 2k needs to be paid.
I called barclays using their website number which was same as on letter.
But they did not say much as account not in our name and i said they used our address and i am not happy about it at all.
All they said was basically the person may soon realise they out wrong address and only they can correct it.....errrm its in collections and has been going on months so pretty sure theey purposely used our address as they will know they have not been paying back a loan.
They said nothing they can do.
Is this correct? As I don't want issues at my door

I'd raise a complaint, only time I've ever had any sense out of Barclays.0

In reality no bank is going to take the word of a non customer. As they have no way of proving you are who you say you are or that you live at the address.
A complaint again will not change anything for exactly the reasons above.Life in the slow lane2 -

Beggars belief how secure they claim they are and can't do this or that yet allow someone using another person's address get a loan 😂born_again said:

The postie probably won't take them off you. Just write "Not known at this address, return to sender" on the unopened envelope and pop it in the nearest postbox - it's what you should do any time you receive mail that's not for you.mark25810 said:born_again said:

The postie once said collect them and give him them but that was since last letter and todays being latest.
If we get anymore ill do as you say as long as we don't get bailiffs at the door
I still feel shaky and sick with it, i have anxiety and stuff like this does not help as everything goes through my head0 -

That's not going to happen. Bailiffs can only be instructed by a court, and that follows a lengthy process which culminates in the court being satisfied that you genuinely owe the debt.mark25810 said:CliveOfIndia said:
