Revolut Standard Plan (prepaid Travel Card)

Tried to sign up to this as my son uses it when travels abroad and thinks it's great. The only way to get an account is via the app but once in the app, you have to chose a Plan. No problem, but...there is no option to chose a Standard (free) plan, just a choice of paid Plans. The only way to contact Revolut is via the app (if you go online to do it the message is sent via the app). You can only receive messages via the app if you have completed the set-up process ie by selecting a plan! My son says this wasn't the case when he set his account up. Seems like Revolut don't want anyone to have Standard / free plans now. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I think the advice would be not to sign up to Revolut as there are better options out there. For example, Starling Bank and First Direct are completely free and don't have any restrictions on spending or ATM withdrawals, unlike the free Revolut plan.1

Wise (formerly known as TransferWise) operates in a similar way to Revolut, without the need for plans of any kind.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Revolut is very good IME and works well for inter Revolut transfers and bill sharing, as well as currency exchange. Me and my OH have both used it for a few years for holidays and it's pretty much my daily spend card these days. I would recommend it.
I've had a look and can't see where the standard plan has been removed. I'm on the standard plan but have been for a while. When you first set up the account, there is a £5 fee for card delivery, is that what you are looking at? Seems odd that you can't set up the standard account - pretty sure it'll be user error, but I could be wrong.0
