Annual mileage

Has anyone been caught out with stated annual mileage?  Does anyone know how much your quote is adjusted by adding/subtracting mileage? Just wondering as next job I consider will involve more driving than current 7k miles

It will be individual, so no way to say for you.

Is this 7k miles additional commute miles, or are the business miles and if so do you have business cover?

Only real way to find out is to contact your insurer.

Loads of people have, anyone who does it is stupid.

It varies based on all the other variables involved in pricing your car insurance, for me adding or taking away 2k miles made about £15 difference.

Correctly declare your mileage to your insurers, second make sure you have Class 1 business insurance rather than SDP if needed. Your change in job/job title may also impact your insurance and insurance has risen again this year so that will also factor in to any new price.

"More than 7k" could be 10k or 40k.  At some point between those figures there may be a large impact on premiums, but insurance premiums are made up of lots of other factors and small changes in annual mileage should generally have a marginal effect on the premium charged.

Age, address, driving experience and claims history will still be the main factors in determining the cost.

See if you can update it on their website (as well as checking you have the appropriate class of use)... many insurers allow online updating and charge lower/no fees compared to the telephone.
