Good morning all from a slightly sunny but chilly Mehefinland
Had a busy few days with council stuff, and other time consuming bits and bobs.
It was my good friend's OH burpday yesterday so I sneaked a barrowload of poo off the muck heap and left it outside their backdoor on early days. The ground was frozen so it was relatively easy to get it out of the field. Got a delighted message later , and "please could we have some more". So that was the task later on. Win/win as far as I am concerned. Started clearing out Scooby's stable which wasn't such a nice task, but needs doing.
Have had to dig out the water meter chamber by the road to find the field stop-tap as the frost was pushed the tap off the water pipe slightly. There is a steady drip, which I am sure will get worse, so I am getting prepared for a job I want to put off as long as possible!! Its a Phosphor bronze valve onto a blue plastic pipe and I think the olive is going phut with the back pressure, and the frost. I bought a screw on plastic valve in readiness - Gosh they are expensive!! I said to the guy in the farmer's merchants that I didn't want it gold plated when he told me how much!!
Our electric is going off twice today as they are doing maintenance on a substation nearby. 7.30 this morning they were offloading a huge generator off a lorry, completely blocking the road. By the time I got back home from the field the first part had been done and dusted, as the cooker clock was flashing. Hopefully it will be that quick when they re-instate the power too.
Garden beckons as I try to sort out the front bit before the weather breaks, so its hugs and spoons as always
Keep the poodles warm

Morning all. It's another lovely sunny day and feeling mild; there's a bit of a blip expected tomorrow with some rain and then back to sunshine for the weekend before a cooler and changeable week ahead. I'll be making the best of it while it's here!
I have several planters on the patio that need attention as most of them are growing just weeds.Just two contain "proper" flowers, one with hyacinths and the other with tulips that are already in bloom but looking tired. If the weather holds I'll empty the weed-y ones this weekend.
Yesterday's trip to the pharmacy took a little longer than usual as there was quite a long queue, mainly people with queries on their prescriptions or out of stock items. Fortunately, mine were ready and all P&C so I'm set up now for the next three months. I've put a reminder on my calendar to order a new repeat script in June and I expect I'll be called in for my annual health/diabetic review too.
The cross stitch is nearly finished, I've done the main body of it that's all good and am now on the outlining/fine detail part (those who do cross stitch will know what I mean) but I'm not very happy with it so far. I think I'll be unpicking what I've already done and instead will do it "freehand" and in a different colour.
Today's outing is to the local Co-op and there's another book to return. Note to self: I must not borrow any more! Curry and rice for tea, the last fruit & jelly pot for afters.
@mm - Nice to hear from you again, keep popping in as and when you have the time and/or inclination.
@camelot - That's an unusual wedding present, I hope they enjoy it.
@Scarlet - Good news on the eye check up, such a relief for you.
@Ruby - Fingers crossed the cream etc does the trick for Rob. Also for a trouble-free MOT.
@TA - Happy lunch day.
@Gers - Well done on a busy but successful day yesterday. If only the bills didn't come all at once ....
@dp1 - Good to hear you found a work around for the photos.
@-taff - Back to normal I see! Busy as ever.
Enjoy the day whatever you have planned and take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.8 -
Morning all,
Sorry for the whinge last night, life looks worse when I am tired!
OH has been in a wheelchair since having both legs amputated above the knee more than a year ago. He is mostly in good humour but takes some looking after. We have carers to get him up, showered and dressed, I wouldn't be able for that every day. The family are very good but are all working and most have children. I find it difficult to get out as he can't be left alone, I get to an exercise class once a week and a knitting group another morning, a niece is very good and comes to stay with him while I am gone both days.
No rain here today, very windy but odd bursts of sun....it feels cold, I have just ordered heating oil (almost 1000 euro) and need a cylinder of gas, don't know what that will cost.
Looking back I see that this has been another whinge.....Will find something cheerful next time!
Hugs to all, thanks for welcome back.
