We did look briefly at the older MG5 - a great car but it's a parts-bin special and lots of reported software integration glitches including the inability to charge at Tesla superchargers - on top of the indifferent dealer network.0 -
Great car but also a parts bin special, with lots of issues?0

Thanks everyone.
What would you say is a reasonable length of time for the dealer to be allowed to repair the car? We're currently into week 5 and I am a reasonable person!Make £2018 in 2018 Challenge - Total to date £2,1080 -
So has the dealer actually told you that the car is irreparable or is that just a conclusion you have drawn from the lack of progress?
If they've actually told you it categorically can't be fixed there seems to be no point waiting any longer as the situation, by definition, isn't going to improve.
Subject to the T&Cs of your lease, I think you need to be complaining to the lease company. (And as I suggested earlier, do you have legal advice cover on any insurance you have, and have you tried CAB?)0 -

Yeah I've had it 2 years 4 months and no issues at all until this. Now on 50k miles just about, the main gripe from me is the dealer/manufacturer support which has been woeful. Won't be buying or leasing another MG because of this experience.Make £2018 in 2018 Challenge - Total to date £2,1080 -
Why are you so focussed on the dealer OP? You have no contract with the dealer, your contract is with the finance company. It is their car and their responsibility.
You need to be demanding action from the finance company, they should be working with the dealer.
Put a complaint into the finance company now stating they are failing to provide you with the product you bought.2 -
Is this a lease (PCH) or a PCP?
If a lease then you should be pressuring the leasing company who at a minimum should be pressuring the dealership/Mg to provide you a suitable replacement vehicle.
If they cant then you need to come to some sort of solution with them like they terminate the lease, end of, as would be the case if the car was a total loss. (But don't terminate it yourself as there would likely be charges for the remaining lease period). You should also consider what sort of initial payment you made upfront, obviously if it was 6 or 9 months you would have been negatively impacted by that if the lease gets terminated.
If it's a PCP then you probably want to take it up with the finance company too.
I'm very surprised the dealership haven't given you a courtesy car though, the car is still under warranty. With Hyundai I've always had a courtesy car when mine has been having warranty work done. The dealership charge it back to the manufacturer anyway in the same way they do with the warranty work so it's not like it's really a cost to them.
