Edinburgh Fringe Short Term Let

I'm looking for anyone who does short term lets of their property in Edinburgh for the Fringe Festival held in August each year. Could you advise of the process you have followed, tax implications (rent-a-room relief), issues you've come across and any other general information you think would be helpful. Considering renting out a space however have been a home owner for < a year and so very new to the process. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You’ll need a short term let licence from the council and if you have gas appliances you’ll need a gas safety certificate.

It might be worth contacting the Fringe office on this one as I know they used to have an involvement with helping people on the accommodation side - they might be able to either provide information for you or put you in touch with someone to help? They certainly always used to be pretty keen to get as much available accommodation available for the performers as they could.

not sure how long they are taking now to deal with licences currently but they are allowed up to 9 months so may not be in place for this year...you can't take any bookings until you have your licence in place
