Hello
My daughter had learner driver policy. The policy was renewed on 1st of February 2025 and she passed the test on 27th of Feb. On 28th of Feb I called insurance broken to cancel the policy (as it should be done). They said the cancelation fee is 126.67 which we paid. The direct debit was cancelled by us the same day. Yesterday we got the email from financial company that DD was not successful and she needs to pay. I called the insurance company and they said that we still need to pay March DD. When I asked for explanation in writing, she send the email with explanation that I do not understand at all (sending it below). I understand that this is not a monthly insurance so it is not easy to understand how much she owns them. My question is, should we pay next month instalment or we should arguing? I don't want to complain if I do not have a ground for that.

This is the email from insurance company:

RP (GWP Inc IPT): £836.57

Insurer Canx Fee: £56.00

Addon Refund: £0.00

Nominal Fee Refund: £0.00

Discount Clawback: £93.82

Commission Clawback: £69.69

Broker Fee: £62.50

CBPF Redemption: £681.23

TGSL Admin Fee: £226.01

Customer Owes: £126.67

We already paid:
1. Feb payment:  94.90
2. Cancellation fee: 126.67

I can send the info from insurance policy as well if it is needed

The issue here, is that a loan was taken out to pay the annual insurance.

I know it is a loan, but I would think cancellation fee is to cover the loss of the insurance company. Does the email from insurance company states that she need to pay one more installment?

Also I discussed it with finance company and they said that because cancellation was send to them only today, then I need to pay. So looks like because insurance company did not send cancellation same day then we own the money. Not sure if this is true or not

issue will be with the broker cancelling when the payment had already been applied for by direct debit
i would question what the - TGSL Admin Fee is because this throws all calculations out of whack

in simplest terms you should not be paying any more, assuming the February payment has gone through.
broker/insurer fees have ended up costing £282.01
    £836.57 - £282.01 left £554.56

Your liable for the difference between £554.56 & the close brothers settlement cost of £681.23

So if your DD was unsuccessful yes you owe £94.90
