I find this all overwhelming and tricky so please be kind... Currently on a flexible Gas and Electricity tariff with Octopus so thinking of switching to a Fixed one. Does this sound like a decent enough reason to switch and how does EDF compare with Octopus? Is my understanding right that I am likely to save more than £73?
EDF Energy
Thanks

EDF website now showing Simply Fixed Direct Jun26v4 no exit fees, looks cheaper than previous version.
I suggest you compare based on your usage https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/are-there-any-cheap-fixed-energy-deals-currently-worth-it/ The cheapest energy fixes
British Gas 16 month fix already reflects lower electricity standing charges in some regions due to lower transmission costs.0 -

Thank you, looks like EDF will be cheaper for me and no exit fees. Are they reliable/easy to work with? Octopus is so easy to submit readings and switching to them was easy. Can anything go wrong switching?1

https://www.topcashback.co.uk/edf-energy/ Checked link goes to Direct fixed tariff no exit fees.
After 12 months of not being Octopus customer can return via friend referral as T+C currently are.0 -

Hi, I'm with with Octopus also, but EDF offered a better tariff for both Gas and Electric. Currently I'm paying £245.83 a month, fixed rate, which goes up to £262.34, from April. EDF offered a fixed rate from April, £219 a month. So a big saving.0

I have the flexible Gas and Electricity tariff with Octopus as dancingvicster and have the same question. I read all the posts but I can't understand how to compare providers. And you dancingvicster, what have you decided to do? The more I read the less I understand.
In around one year (14th March 2024 - 25th March 2024) I consumed:
1050 kw/h of electricity
and 6009 kw/h of gas
Total electric cost: £488.81
Total gas cost: £530.45
Total of the direct debits paid: £895.14
If somebody has the time to provide simple and clear advice I would be very grateful.
Thanks.0
