Halifax debit card - deposits to savings accounts - any recent problems?

Like many other people here I've been doing this for years to qualify for their £5 monthly reward. However, it's the second day now when all my attempts to make a deposit to YBS fail (declined). I tried two different YBS accounts, two different HX cards, different amounts (£50, £500) - to no avail. £500 failed after I received an OTP and entered it (copy&paste, no errors). Today I tried Chase with £1 and it worked, but Chase is Mastercard.

Any recent experience?

Mine worked Ok last week.

A 'decline' is a bit of an odd one if that is coming from Halifax... they could prevent the transaction being eligible for the scheme, but they shouldn't stop the payment itself unless you don't have the funds or they suspect fraud etc.

The YBS deposit system does sometimes throw a wobbly, so will be interesting to see if this is affecting anyone else.

I have just done my regular 3x500 from Halifax to YBS and all worked fine. I have found a few times in the passed, if I do over two payments into YBS it will decline a payment. I then find I have to wait around two days and try again and it works.

Ask Halifax why the transaction is being declined. It's possible you're tripping some sort of merchant specific fraud thing; I've had similar before when topping up Revolut and the only fix has been to call up and spend 10 mins answering questions.

I paid YBS, Skipton and Chip without any issue a couple of days ago - which reminds me, time to do the monthly triple extraction

Halifax Reward Accounts x3 500 to YBS just completed successfully here.

Yesterday (5 March) I made a number of debit card deposits from Halifax to YBS and none were declined.  They varied from £50 (for a regular saver) to £500.  £50 didn't require a OTP and others cleared without problem.

I gave up and made deposits today to Hanley instead - without any problems.
So this problem with my Halifax and my YBS remains a mystery
