The  only real use for them as I see it is for higher rate tax payers who have some funds they need to be really secure who have already exhausted the ISA.

The return is better than taxed interest and does not count toward adjusted net earnings.

Gilts are even better, and just as secure.

If I wanted to be a dreamer, then I'd stick my money elsewhere and use some of the interest to buy my self a Euromillions ticket for a similarly  remote  chance of a better dream.

Personally, I've never fancied winning the Euromillions...seriously who needs £10s or £100s of millions? I know that goes against the grain and comes across as a bit miserable to many...but I'm thinking all that responsibility coupled with hedonic adaptation! No thanks! My missus thinks I'm mad though!

I'm a small house, warm cozy room, comfy chair, piano, music and a good book kind of a guy. I don't need millions for that!

Depends on your situation, PBs are great from a tax perspective as prizes aren't taxable. If you need easy access and low risk then well, easy access accounts. If access is less of a concern consider the time horizon.. If say 1-2 years I'd be looking at fixed rate accounts, if 3+ years I'd be looking more towards Gilts. Holding the gilt to maturity guarantees you the return you calculated on entry, with the bonus you can sell at some point if needed in say an emergency.

I would give it to the local hospital in preparation for my missus putting me there!

Currently pays the Base Rate less 1%, so some guaranteed interest and some prizes available to be won on top of that. They can change the rate though and until recently it tracked the BOE rate with no deduction.

Have you won any of the prize draws?

    Perfectly understandable.

I'm pretty certain a win of that magnitude would ruin me. Though I might have some fun along the way
