Car in a garage far away from me - too expensive to repair. Cash for cars best option?

This is really for peace of mind.
I have a 19 year-old car (mileage approx 90,000). Basically, car broke down on way home from trip outside a town about 70 miles from me. Had to get towed to local garage near breakdown and get bus home.
A week later they are quoting me £680 for new tires and repairs. This is a lot more than I expected but there is a bit of damage and its a very old car so I don't really want to pay for repairs. It's also going to be too expensive/much effort to tow to another gargae nearby. I don't really use the car enough to justify this cost. The garage might be taking the mick but not sure what else I can do.
My plan is to get Cash For Cars to pick up car from garage. They are offering £75 for it will pick it up free of charge given there I leave the VS5 in the car.
Just want to ask has anyone used Cash For Cars before and does it seem legit? Also, are there any other options I should consider? Thanks in advance

to me it sound like a bad deal.
even if you were to scrap it, it should be more than £75 sounds like they are charging you a fair amount for going to collect it.0 -

Detach and leave part 6 for the new keeper. Fill in part 4 and send to the DVLA, or do it online.2 -
I can understand repairs, but why tyres?
Which we do take that you check to make sure they are legal?Life in the slow lane0 -
How much are you going to spend replacing it? £680 to keep it going seems like a bargain.
If you do want rid of it, talk to the garage first as they may give you more than cash for cars, and you'll presumably need to pay them something for the work and storage that's already occurred.

Yeah 2 wheels and their tires need replaced as well as one bearing and wheel flange needing replaced. Along with labour gonna cost 680. I was hoping to get another 6 months out of the car but as I'm leaving the country after that I was going to sell and not bother replacing anyway so I am fine (albeit a bit sad) to let it go.
Good point about the V5C. Cash for cars recommended removing either parts 9 or 4 so it's good to know what they said lines up with your advice.
I asked garage if what they would pay for it but they said they wouldn't pay anything for it.
