Having trouble with an eBay return

Hi, thanks for taking the time to read this.
Husband bought an item off Ebay that he ended up not needing. Seller's happy for it to be returned for a refund. The problem we're having is that due to it's bulky size, the couriers we've checked won't accept it. It's something like the length and girth of it is the problem.
The seller can't or won't use his own courier to pick it up. The item listing mentioned an ebay label. So when placing the order, we had thought this meant that if we wanted to, ebay would sort out a return and just deduct it from our refund. But I've contacted ebay and after being passed to a couple of departments, they've said nothing they can do.
The item was £99. It's a car bumper. Off the top of my head, the length is about 210cm, width and length were 50-60cm each. Does anyone know of any couriers who do accept parcels this size? Thank you.

It might be worth doing a quote with the outer measurements and weight on a comparison site like this Parcel Delivery & Courier Services | Send a Parcel | Parcel2Go
However, to get sufficient insurance cover you would probably need to then go to the actual courier site and input details there, and also ensure the item would be covered.
A quick look suggests that the return cost may well be almost as much as the item cost, so perhaps consider selling it on a local group, or fb marketplace as cash on collection only and try to recover some of your costs that way.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. A bit more detail might help there, as that might be pre-contractual information.0 -
Thank you both for your replies. We got nowhere with ebay or any couriers. It was a couple of hours drive, but as the parcel fitted into his car, he drove it to the seller himself, so its sorted now.
Soolin, we did try the comparison sites but they wouldn't quote us for that size.
Savergrant, in the Returns section on the listing, it said:
'Buyer pays return postage. If you use an eBay delivery label, it will be deducted from your refund amount.'
I couldn't find anything on Ebay about how to get this label, but when I spoke to their customer services, they said they don't do one for large parcels this size. I guess the wording does say 'if' we use their label, and it was an assumption on my part that they would definitely give us a returns label for this item. As said, it's now sorted but thanks for trying to help.
