Android 'optimised battery charging'

I have a Motorola G31
I put it on charge every night about 10.30 and unplug it when I get up about 07.30
Just reading in the optimised battery charging settings (which is turned ON) which tells me it will charge to about 80% then boost to 100% before I get up.
Sadly, it's not getting anywhere the 100%
Why not, but does it matter?

My Realme does the same but when I start the charging there is a notification telling me what time 100% will be reached in the morning.
It did take a few weeks to learn when I was waking up and adjust the finish time accordingly.1 -

If you want to prolong the battery's capacity as long as possible in theory its charge should always stay between 20% and 80%. With iPhone you have two options, optimised battery that does the same as you describe and a charge limit where you can set it never to charge over X%... the closer you get to 100% the more degradation the battery allegedly sustains. Given both ecosystems copy each other wouldn't be surprised if both options were in both OS2 -
Charge to 80% capacity
The charging rate slow dramatically above 80% and keeping your battery below 100% can prolong its life1 -

BUMPGoing away for a few days where I may need more battery power - can I just turn off 'optimised' in the short term?0
-
Yes you can turn off if you like, it will then charge up to 100%. The way optimised charging works on Motorola is it charges up to 80% then once a week charges to 100%. This is supposed to keep the battery conditioned.Moneysaver1

Never seen it up to 100%, but thanks anyway0

I read that it will charge the battery to 80% most of the time, but up to 100% once a week. But I haven't been sufficiently enthused to notice how accurate that statement was!0

I think I've 'mended' it.I turned off 'battery saver' and now we seem to have 100% every morning.0
