Hi I saw a car advertised on the Evans Halshaw website . I paid a £200 deposit and was told the car was being sent to the Durham dealership and could not now be sold. Four days later I got a phone call to say the car had been sold and was no longer available. I was shown a number of other cars on he website. I chose one and told the salesperson I wanted to buy it transferring my deposit to the car. I then got a call three days later to say they could not sell me the car as the advertised price was wrong! Apparently if sold at the price as advertised Evan Halshaw would lose £500. I offered to pay the difference but they refused. Any advice?

Get your deposit back and go elsewhere would be my reaction. You can't make them sell you the car and there will be others out there to buy.3

Get your money back and find cars you can see before you decide to buy. The £200 to 'reserve' isn't a game I play and I have missed out on a vehicle by not doing so.0

I would have thought the runaround already experienced with EH would be enough to get all sorts of alarm bells ringing. If they are that poor with customer service before a purchase, what would they be like in the event of issues after they have all the money? Just asking!2

I'd forgotten the saga my neighbours had with a purchase from EH. The EH site was less than 2 miles from where we live. Car test driven, purchased and then driven home. It had started to overheat as they pulled onto their drive. Once cooled down they checked and there was no coolant in the system. Topped up but within 24 hours the problem returned. Back to EH where the only reaction was "They must have forgotten to fill it when then serviced it"! Coolant drained and refilled. Overheating again within a few miles. Back to EH demanding full refund. Shrug from the sales person and money returned. They drove past later the same day and the vehicle was up for sale again.0

Why on earth would you want to buy a car from a company that (at best) is disorganised and doesn't keep to their word? Can you imagine the problems you'd have down the line if there's a problem that needs resolving.
