New Car for wife in my name

Hi
I am buying a new car for my wife and its registered in my name. She has several months left to run on her currently policy for her car that is being traded in.
What is the simplest way to sort insurance so that the car is fully insured, and no loss of No Claims bonuses. We are both named drivers on each others cars.
My instinct is to advise her insurer she is the new owner of my car, and send the V5 off accordingly, and then just advise my insurer I have taken ownership of the new car.
We are not with the same providers.

Your wife needs to be named as the main driver on her policy and likely the best thing is for her to just update the her policy with the new car. Doesn't matter who "owns" it or in whose name it is registered.
Hope she had a choice in the car you bought for her!!!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Whilst some policies might allow it for a spouse others might not so it should be checked with insurer.
What might be needed is 'non-owner' insurance which limits the market available to insure with.1 -

Most insurers won't be too bothered if you're insuring a car owned by your spouse, but you still have to make sure it is declared correctly. Can be more of an issue where the car is owned by a parent/child, or a more distant relative or friend.

T he owner is the person who bought it or was gifted it.
The registered keeper is the person who uses the car and is named on the VC5. They may or may not be the owner.
That is the person who will get communications from the DVLA and any speeding notices etc.
The main driver uses it most.
The named driver uses it least.1
