Hi I bought my dad, who has dementia, a Simple music player and am trying to download music onto it. I have made him an album of songs on Amazon Music on my laptop - they are showing as downloaded. The instructions say to plug in USB to both the laptop and music player, then plug it in to the power and....the music player is recognised, but I don't have a folder with music in to drag onto the music player.
I am at a complete loss what to do next...does anyone have experience of this?

where does Amazon music store downloaded files and what format are they in (mp3?)0

What is the music player?
Have you purchased the music individually, or do you have a subscription?
If you only have a subscription you won't be able to transfer it onto a different player.
You would either need to buy individual songs and download and then transfer, or get an old phone with Amazon Music sign in to your account on there and then download songs to play offline.2 -
Looking at the above it appears you drag individual files across to the Simple player.Have you searched for the files on your computer to find their location?
Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid1 -
Thanks to you both - I took out a months free trial of Amazon unlimited, with the plan of putting some music on then cancelling the subscription - perhaps I can't do that? If not where do I buy songs in MP3? Dad already has a tablet but I have it set up for him so he puts his headphones on and it plays - he can't do any more than that as it would be just too complicated and he can hardly see. That's why I got the Simple music player...all he would have to do is lift a flap and it plays and there no buttons for him to fiddle with I don't know if or how to change the downloaded music into mp3 format0

You either get music by paying a monthly subscription for access to thousands (millions) of tracks or by buying tracks individually.
If you are paying the monthly subscription you can access music offline, but only using the relevant app or player and only while you are paying a subscription.
To transfer songs to a different player you need them in mp3 format so you can search for free ones or buy them online. If you particularly want to use Amazon you can https://www.amazon.co.uk/Digital-Music or there are places like CD Baby, iTunes, etc.1 -
Have you been able to establish where the music is on your computer and what format it is in?You can buy music/albums from Amazon as well as other placesThings that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid1

If you already have the music in the format of a cd, tape or vinyl, perhaps from his own previous collection you can transfer, or 'rip', them to create an mp3 that you own and can transfer between player and computer.
That is the lowest cost way other than going down the illegal file sharing route.
I don't think any subscription streaming service is going to allow what you want to do.1 -
Music downloaded from an Amazon Music Unlimited subscription is DRM-protected (Digital Rights Management); you cannot transfer them to a music player.1

It seems this device is a few years old and the instructions haven’t been updated to reflect changes in computers and the format of music files (for example the screenshots and videos are of versions of windows and iTunes from about 15 years ago)
If you are purchasing music or ripping it from CD, make sure it is in mp3, aac, or flac and not ogg Alac or aiff
Modern operating systems will probably as you to authorise the device , but it sounds like you’ve got past that stage. You will need to use the cable that comes with the device because it has a USB A socket (it should have B or C) so other cables won’t work.0 -

There are tools to get around their copy protection but thats a breach of the law and so discussion of such tools is banned on here.
If you like amazon then looking at an album on there you will see purchase options and one of those options will be MP3... looking at a recent brit winner its £7.99 on CD, £15.99 as MP3 or £49.99 on vinyl1
