Garmin update won't install.

Anyone else having trouble installing the latest Garmin map update?

I've tried to install the update several times, and it keeps saying there's a problem.

Installed no problem on my Drive 51.  Go to the Garmin forum, they usually manage to sort this type of problem. https://forums.garmin.com/apps-software/mac-windows-software/f/garmin-express-windows

Yes, fully charged.

I've ordered a new cable, in case there's a fault with the cable.

Could be that.  I know my Garmin G30 will only connect and update successfully if I use the cable they supplied.  Other cables with exactly the same fitting don't work.

I've noticed that.

It's the same with the car charger lead. If you swap it for a regular 1 metre Mini USB cable, it'll power up the Satnav, but the Satnav won't detect the satellites.

For several months I have been using Waze on my phone, it is free and links to the car touch display. It is much more useful than a dedicated "sat nav" as the thousands of other Waze users mark broken down vehicles, road works, potholes, and other hazards. The navigation ability is second to none and has user provided corrections to speed limits, etc. These corrections are done in a few days and update the live map, unlike my previous Tom Tom sat nav where incorrect speed limits were shown for many months (and on the later map download) after a temporary speed restriction was removed.

Your mileage may vary, but I find dedicated sat navs are pretty much last year products, and that includes the one built into my new car.

For anyone who needs a new cable, I can confirm this one works on my Nuvi 55 LMT, and should presumably work  on other Nuvis.
