What is the best way to find a solicitor for a will? Also can I choose anyone as an executor?

Adding to the above, as this is something I've started looking into recently for a family member, being an executor looks like quite an onerous task, and not at all to be taken lightly.
So, make sure the person you ask is suitably equipped ('switched on'), that you 'ask' nicely, suggest they do some research before they hopefully say 'yes', and confirm they will be well compensated for this task in the will.
I understand that an executor can revoke this position when the time comes, and engage a solicitor to carry it out instead, but this will typically cost a few £k.0
