Agricultural workers dwelling

Hi. Has anybody here ever tried to buy a house that was originally built as an agricultural workers dwelling?
Did you buy it at a discount?
Have you managed to get the conditions removed?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Any advice would be appreciated.Flip a coin. Some councils will, some won't. It depends on the local situation and how much the planning officers care about retaining properties for agricultural workers. If you get a discount then it will probably be because the odds of removing the restriction are low (the vendors have probably tried/made enquiries already)

Usually at this point I tell the salutary tale of the time I visited (for work) a farmer who had a neighbour who had bought a house with an agricultural condition already lifted. Anyway, the farmer wanted his daughter to be able to buy the house and help him on his farm, so he was doing everything he could to make life very difficult and unpleasant for the poor neighbour with aim of making them sell up. I said "that's not very nice, Mr Farmer". "I don't care" he said.0

Next door managed it, cost him a fortune and took years.0
