Driving as a ND for over 25 yrs. Getting own insurance

Did you ask Admiral if they would transfer one NCD into your wife's name? I had that issue years ago. I forget which insurer I was with, but they were happy to transfer one NCD to my wife after I'd been with them for a year.RavingMad said:I stupidly merged mine and my wife's policies into one Admiral policy four years ago and only realised this year that I'd said it was fine for me to be the main policy holder for both cars even though we were main drivers where it counted.
So we discovered my wife had lost all her NCD (23+) as new insurers needed proof within the last two years. New policy for my wife cost £270 instead of £185. Would have been slightly cheaper to remain with Admiral but with me as the main policy holder but I wanted the wife to start getting her discount0 -
Yeah, spoke to Admiral at length but as much as they agreed with "why would I want 2 lots of NCD instead of my wife (main driver) accumulating her own" , they weren't forthcoming. Instead they suggested going back to my last insurer (4 years ago) and getting her NCD certificate from them!mgfvvc said:

"And you'll accept that for my wife's new policy?"
"No, it has to be within 2 years"

UselessYeah, not at all helpful.Maybe next year find competitive quotes with both of you using the full NCD from Admiral and you as policy holder, then ask the insurers whether they will allow you to transfer the NCD to your wife after a year and pick one that says yes? I'm guessing that it was Direct Line who did that for us, but I'm far from confident that's right.0
