I am moving to a UPVC summer house it has power tv and fridge. Do they stay dry? I was considering blinds and maybe wooden laminate floor? Do they get much condensation? I wouldn’t want to do it and everything is damp. I am guessing they keep the tv out there all year. I’ve never had a summer house before so wondering what other people do with ones that are powered up? Or is vinyl floor better? Or this better than vinyl? https://www.diy.com/departments/wvh-white-oak-luxury-vinyl-tile-lvt-flooring/5056645710755_BQ.prd As I find vinyl bubbles up

  • Hello OP

When you say moving to do you mean living in full time?

Damp will depend upon ventilation and heating, if you are living in such a structure that is in good condition, heat it and open the widows for 15 minutes a day I can't imagine damp will be a major issue. If you found damp levels were higher than acceptable running a dehumidifier will help but only if the building is relatively well sealed.

If you are using it as a summer house and it's left to it's own devices during the winter how damp it gets will depend upon how well maintained it is and probably what part of the country you are in.

Is the summer house insulated at all?

I don't think LVT has any wood in it so should be stable regardless but when picking a floor for our living room I found LVT rather hard so we went with laminate instead, might be worth visiting a store/ordering some samples to see what type of flooring you like and go from there.

Topic might be one for the DIY board, you can self report and request the thread is moved if you wish :)
