Should I go to energy ombudsman?
I made a claim for the warm home energy grant which was rejected because OVO had my name wrong so I had to get a statement from them to confirm my account to send for the grant. It took me over 2 months and an official complaint to get the statement.
In the process OVO told me I had a debt of over £500 with them and had been taking £2 a day off me through my meter (pay as you go) I’ve been with them since 2015 on pay as you go and knew I had no debt. I made a new complaint asking for proof of debt. They had no proof so said they would refund the money and offered me a £50 goodwill gesture.
They have not put the credit on my meter but said everytime I top up they will give me some of the credit. I have declined and kept my complaint open.
I don’t know what outcome would be considered reasonable.
I’m not greedy but they have put me in financial hardship, I couldn’t afford heating over the winter and this has caused a lot of time & stress.

My electric is around £450 a month.
Would I be better off taking my complaint to the energy ombudsman? tia

If you have a deadlock letter or it's been more than eight weeks then there's no harm in trying !However, you'll be lucky if the ombudsman awards more than £100.0
