Return Parcel is lost and company won't refund for 30 days

I returned an item of clothing via Royal Mail collect at the door.
2 weeks later and the parcel has not moved beyond 'parcel collected' status. The retailer has confirmed they have put in a claim which will take 30 days and they cannot refund me until a decision has been made.
That doesn't seem right to me? I have done everything correct at my end. Posted within their return timeline via their chosen courier and i have the postage receipt.
Can the make me wait 30 days for my refund?

Short answer yes, because apart from asking nicely there is nothing you can do to force them to pay sooner.cazbrown83 said:I returned an item of clothing via Royal Mail collect at the door.

Presumably the retailer thinks there is a chance of the package turning up in a 30 day window, but unlikely beyond that.0

It seems likely to me that the retailer is happy to refund on the item as long as royal mail compensate them. The problem comes if royal mail refuse to compensate or there is an issue with the value.TELLIT01 said:Presumably the retailer thinks there is a chance of the package turning up in a 30 day window, but unlikely beyond that.
What was the value of the item? And what service was used? Did the retailer provide the return label?0 -
Who paid for the return postage?0
