AIBU?

My adult son has stored 3 cars on my property, 2 of which don't run. He's moving out in a few months so told him to get rid of them. He said he would but instead wants to store a work van once purchased. I'm not happy at all but he thinks I'm being unreasonable.

Why if he is  moving out in a few months why can't he park the work van where he lives?

He's got his eye on a flat which has one allocated parking space which he'd use for his car. He didn't even ask, just said he'd park the van here. I'm helping with the deposit because I want him out but never did I think he'd still have one foot at home. I managed to tell him to get the idea of still having a bedroom here, out of his mind.

It doesn't really matter if anybody else thinks you're being unreasonable.

If you think you are being reasonable, put your foot down.

    It's your house, not his.

Has he removed the 2 cars that don't run?

When I pointed out the 2 cars not running, he said he was sorting that out so hopefully that'll be done soon. He's put my mind at ease as he says it wouldn't be every day if the week but now and then.

Do make sure (and be very clear) that 'now and then' doesn't become 'nearly every day'. I'd want to know why he'd only need to park the van at your place 'every now and then' - where will it live if not at yours or his? Or does he intend to have EITHER the car or the van at yours all the time?

What about the insurance on the works van, do his employers know he is parking it on someone else's drive?
