EICR

I believe the law states in April 2021 a landlord needs an EICR. I started renting my property out in October 2021. No mention of an EICR, it's only last week l heard the term.
I decided whilst getting the property ready for tenants, I d upgrade the consumer unit. I wasn't told l had to, just felt it needed new MCB type.
So l received an EIC for this, which Haarts the agents have had from day 1.
No mention of EICR as l say, so the short story is have they done wrong

If you are the landlord then it's your responsibility not your letting agent.4

It's the landlord's responsibility to comply with any legislation regardless. Depending on what you're paying the agent for, you could argue that they've breached their contract or been negligent. However, the important thing is that you have an EICR ip place now.
You might want to check the status of other things like the gas safety certificate while you're at it.5 -

If the agent was to only to find a client then it's the Landlord
Depending on his contract with the lettings agent he might have a case for compo from agent for their failure to comply with contract. But that doesn't erase landlords stupidity.
Remember in England to be a lettings agent requires no qualifications, no training, no criminal records check.
Which country? (Eg Wales, NI?)
Best wishes to all

Right understood. I m waiting on Haarts to find the contract.
I have an email from May 2021 from not the property management team, the finding tenant team! This says l need an EPC and gas certificate and an electrical safety certificate, which l know now is an EICR.
So Haarts organised the EPC and gas, didn't follow up with the EICR. They said l could do that myself but l didn't, so assumed haarts would realise one wasn't in place0 -
By the way, l take offence for my " stupidity"0
