Amazon monthly payment item returned but ODD refund info....

Hi there so i bought something using amazons 5 month payment plan interest free

On ordering they took the first payment

I requested to return the item as its a ring product and you get to try for 30 days and return for what ever reason though my issue was i had no idea it should have came with its own battery so before i bought a battery i tried a spare i had for my doorbell

Tried it for few days but i decided to return on finding out from sister it should have come with a battery.

After tracking issues on call just now they say can see return and wait till monday and if money is not refunded contact again

Issue is she said on the phone after talking to a manager that.......... They will refund the full £119 back even though i only paid the first installment and that the other 4 installments will come out as normal from my bank for next 4 months!

How is this normal. I assumed they return payment i made and then cancelled rest of payments as the item was returned!

I said it does not make sense and she said thats how they handle installment plan refunds and that if i wish i can just oay off the 4 months remaining with the 119 refund so i don't have to see it exit bank next 4 months.

How is this right or normal?

Has anyone else heard if this bizzare way of refunding.

Does it matter?  You could earn a small amount of interest on the £119 as it's gradually reducing.  You're certainly not going to lose out.  And as they say, you can simply pay the whole debt immediately, anyway.

Last week I saw I had received a refund on an item I'd recently purchased. I checked my account, and I had. Strangely I had not requested a refund or returned the item. When I contacted support they said, "Don't worry," so I didn't.

It's a bit more than that in the right account actually, "lol", but the point is that you're suffering no financial loss.  In fact, you are marginally better off if you let the monthly payments continue, and no worse off if you use the refund to pay off the balance.
