District Valuer question

Hi,
My late fathers estate is currently going through probate, a solicitor is carrying this out and house valuations have been provided and the estate is subject to inheritance tax.
I’m just wondering what the chances of a district valuers visit is? Are these just picked randomly?

Is your father’s estate anywhere near IHT levels?
If no there is close to zero chance.0 -
Hi,
sorry I should’ve added that but yes it is. It states in the will “tools in the garage” go to a beneficiary. A lot of these could be removed fairly quickly should the need arise assuming we get some notice but I imagine they want to visit fairly quickly to avoid that happening. I don’t think there will be a whole lot of value in the tools.0 -

This is the guidance from the VOA Inheritance Tax Manual which outlines the process:

DV only values property not contents.Dave2345 said:Hi,

Trying to "hide" assets of the estate which would count towards its total value is fraudIf you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales1 -
