MUTED?

One of my tabs has MUTED under the title.

This happened first when I logged into Hotmail.

Whichever site I go to it stays as MUTED.

Please, what is this and will it be hanging around?

Responders really need more detail: what device, operating system, is  browser (which) or other app? etc.

Firefox?

Right-click the tab -> Unmute Tab.

This is an option in Chrome as well but requires an extension is my understanding.

Works the same in Safari too other than it shows a speaker icon rather than saying muted

It's new to me. Another 'helpful' addition or.........

Only thing I've muted is adverts while watching mainstream tv channels and I'm pretty sure that didn't happen before I logged off.

Not a new feature, it's been present in Firefox since 2021 apparently.

You can mute/unmute by clicking on the Youtube symbol in the tab while a video is playing in it.  Or press CTRL+M to do the same thing.

Thanks Neil.

It is possible I did that at some point where there were multiple interupting ads but not recently.

I'll keep an eye on it in future.

Longer than that, about 10 years with FF42.
