Can you paste the text of the email?

The page from their website has been archived (from November 2024): https://web.archive.org/web/20241129163553/https://santander.co.uk/

When you click on the 'Switch your account' button it seems pretty clear what you needed to do to earn the incentive.

I fully understand the real terms and conditions now but at the time the links they provided was as clear as mud to me and now others as well as really misleading from an internal Santander offer point of view..
Did the link sent to you as a Santander customer talking about upgrading accounts even mention the incentive for switching or was that seen in a separate email?
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.
  • I read the information from Santander exactly the same way as you. I checked it several times and even told my partner about it, as she is also a Santander account holder. (Un)fortunately we never got around to making the switch, so I agree with you, it was at worst 'a con' and at best extremely mis-leading.

Are you able and willing to share (i.e. copy/paste or screenshot) the actual Santander emails that have caused the confusion?
  • In addition, I visited the Waterlooville branch, Hampshire recently to check what I had read online about the use of my Santander 123 Debit card for my holiday in Canada later this year. This was the reason I was going to change my account to the Edge or Edge Up account. I was insistently informed (3 times) by 'Vicky' that there was a 3% charge when using the card at an ATM, which was contrary to my understanding. After some considerable effort, I eventually managed to persuade her to check the information which detailed there was 'no charge' when using ATM's and where any such charge was made, it was in fact 2.95%, not 3%. I'm still waiting for the apology as the focus was then changed to the 'overly large' balance of my current account, in her opinion, which needed investment in other Santander products. Needless to say, I left the premises without taking any further action or advice and didn't make the account change that you referred to earlier.
Just need to decide which bank to move to, if you can believe the rhetoric!!!
