claim form

Hello, please help,
I received a claim form from Edmonton green shopping centre (North London) for falling to pay parking tariff at and the claimant claims £535.40 or a total of £675.40 inc court fees (I am going insane 🤯😫) I have parked many times there to go shopping at Asda, I even asked the security guy for the parking he he said is 2h free, I was sent pcn by them but I was doing a home renovation and to be honest I thought I would just ignore them and I don’t even know how did I end up here, now I am very scared that they will get me to ccj, let me mention that the claimant form is in my partners name (he is the vehicle keeper) but he was not the driver, I was I think that’s shown on the picture thay have taken too!
Should I
1. pay the amount before they taking me to court?
2. Complete acknowledgment of service or a defence?
Is there any way to get them back to just pay the parking ticket?

(Is about three pcn’s issued on 17.06.2024, 22.06.2024, 01.07.2024)
thank you in advance

Your partner should complete the AOS online and draft a defence

Post the name of the parking company,  the lawyers if used,  the issue date from the claim form after hiding the personal details,  plus post a redacted picture of the POC on the lower left of the claim form after hiding the VRM details first

    Definitely nobody pays

As its in your partners name,  it's nothing to do with you,  but you can and probably should assist them going forward

The VRM is unredacted,  lower left

So G24 via DCB Legal,  3 pcns,  probably at £100 each, those 3 dates are probably incorrect,  issued 19 Feb 2025

You have never received any of those multiple letters,  your partner has,  not you

As the claim is in their own name,  they must login to MCOL online and do the AOS,  nothing else

Then look at the recent similar cases and paragraph 2 says keeper but not the driver

Paragraph 3 is the numbered rebuttal,  but changing or adding 3 dates,  not one

ok following the advices written here we just competed the AOS online, and i will today start my draft defence (which I have no idea how to do, but I am reading the newbie’s announcement and hopefully will get it 🤞🤞

name of parking company is: DCB (I think, can’t find something else)
claimant’s legal representative is Sarah Ensall
issue date is: 19 Feb 2025

you gave me much hope by saying that nobody pays, as I am really scared that we are either paying £675 or getting a bad credit score

thank you so much for your help (honestly)

G24 is the parking company claimant,  top left

Dcb Legal are the lawyers acting on behalf of G24 , so next paragraph down on the left of the form

When you say we, I hope that it was your partner as defendant that logged into the Gov gateway,  navigated to MCOL and they did the AOS online   ?  ( with you assisting them  )  this is nothing to do with you,  please understand that

Its your partners defence you are both drafting,  so not MY defence,  but MY PARTNER'S defence

Use the following example,  but alter paragraph 3 because there are 3 pcns and therefore 3 dates,  so reword that part of the paragraph accordingly , the example below was only one date, not 3 dates

2 is unchanged because your partner is the keeper but not the driver

Then possibly think about adding a concise paragraph 3.1, if its necessary,  which it may not be in this case, especially as the keeper was not the driver

The rest of the template defence will be used at the correct time,  but you will replace paragraphs 2 & 3 with your draft paragraphs

With a Claim Issue Date of 19th February, and having filed an Acknowledgment of Service('AOS') in a timely manner, you have until 4pm on Monday 24th March 2025 to file a Defence.

That's over three weeks away. Plenty of time to produce a Defence but please don't leave it to the last minute.
To create a Defence, and then file a Defence by email, look at the second post in the NEWBIES thread.
Don't miss the deadline for filing a Defence.

Do not try and file a Defence via the MoneyClaimOnline website. Once an AOS has been filed, the MCOL website should be treated as 'read only'.
